This 1981 UK set marks the first time all 30 songs from the Star Club tapes were gathered into one package. Also, this set was the first UK appearance of 4 tracks not previously issued in Britain. Some errors involved in this set: -[a459513] listed on the front cover, is not on these recordings (he had died months before). -Recording date is stated as April 1962 when it is actually December 62. -A1 “Introduction” is only listed on inner gatefold. -A7 “Lend Me Your Comb” is credited as Written-By “Fred Wise/B. Weisman” on label but really Written-By [a661426], [a255831] & [a661418]. -B4 “Besame Mucho” is misspelled on label as “Beseme Mucho”. -B5 “Can’t Help It/Blue Angel” is really “Reminiscing”. -B6 “Kansas City/Hey Hey Hey” is only credited as Written-By “Leiber/Stoller” on label but really Written-By [a281667]/[a600557]. C2 “Ain’t Nothin’ Shakin’ (Like The Leaves On A Tree)” is credited Written-By “Dallas/Frazier/A. Owen” on label but really is credited as Written-By [a916583], [a1359682], [a1359681] & [a772723]. C5 “Falling In Love Again” is credited Written-By “Hollander/Connally” on label but really Written-By [a582942] & [a570823] is a theme for the film “Der Blaue Engel (The Blue Angel)” performed by [a328731]. Also Published By credits misspelled as “Campbell Connally”. -D5 “Talkin’ ’bout You” ([a30552] song) is really the [a180119] song “I’m Talking About You”. -D6 “Shimmy Shake” is incorrectly credit and confused with the song “Shimmy Shake” Written-By “South & Billy Land”. Correct song is a version from [a97322] “Shimmy Like Kate” written by [a326826]. -D8 “I Remember You” misspelled credit to [a164574] as “Metter”. -C7 “Be-Bop-A-Lula” lead vocals by [a3841801] (Star-Club waiter and brother of Horst Fascher), erroneously credited to “[a1503590] on Liner Notes. -C8 “Hallelujah, I Love Her So” lead vocals by [a1503590] (Star-Club Manager). Issued as a white gatefold sleeve, with textured/raised lettering “BEATLES” on the front and has similar liner notes as the 1977 Lingasong release. Some copies sold outside of the UK may have 3 hype stickers: a round, red “2 RECORD SET” and union jack “British Import” on the front shrink-wrap. On the back may be round, red “ATTENTION COLLECTORS|UNRELEASED TRACKS”.
